Governor, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State Government has said that the state would never employ cultists into the public service.

The Governor stated this on saturday during the 2013 International Day of Peace held in Abeokuta which was jointly organised by the Society For Peace Studies and Practice and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ogun State Council.

The Governor represented by Yusuph Olaniyonu, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy. He noted that since the assumption to power by the present administration, peace had been restored; contrary to the violence and thuggery common to past administrations.

“We don’t and we won’t employ the services of cultists in our government. We brought peace to the state when we resumed and we shall not relapse to era of violence in Ogun State,” Amosun said.

The event was marked with a walk along major streets of the town by members of both groups who also distributed handbills to motorists, passers by and residents to sensitise them on the importance of peace.

The governor also used the occasion to call on all stakeholders to support government in eradicating violence, stressing that the sustenance of peace should not be seen as government’s responsibility alone.

“If all of us are working for peace, there will be development,” he said.
