Tax Appeal Tribunal adjourns N6.8m suit filed against Hotel Ladon

Tax Appeal Tribunal sitting in Abuja has adjourned hearing till July 15, the suit filed against Hotel Ladon Limited over non-payment of N6.8 million tax.

 According to NAN report, the N6.8 million owed by the hotel was for 2010 to 2013 years of assessment.

 Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) had earlier filed a notice against Hotel Ladon in default to pay N1.5 million for Company Income Tax (CIT), N302,906 for Education Tax (ET) and N4.9 million for Value Added Tax (VAT).

 Mr Nnamdi Ibegbu (SAN), the Acting Chairman of the tribunal on Wednesday gave the adjournment in order for Hotel Ladon to respond to the FIRS written address.

 Mrs Najaatu Bashir, counsel to FIRS, said they had a written address to oppose the previously filed motion on payment by the hotel.

 The motion on payment filed by the hotel was an appeal to pay the N6.8 million in six instalments over a period of six months.

 Mr Aloysius Ezenwa, counsel to the Hotel, told the tribunal that they would need to reply to the written address by FIRS. He claimed that issues raised by FIRS in the written address warranted a reply.

Mr Ior Geofrey, an accountant with the hotel, was present in court. (NAN)
