Tambuwal Confirms Withdrawal from Presidential Race; To run for Sokoto state Governor
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has confirmed his withdrawal from the presidential race and decision to run for the Sokoto State governorship seat in the coming general election.
Tambuwal, who recently defected from the Peoples’ Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) joined the presidential contest some days ago when his friends and colleagues in the House purchased a nomination form for him.
Talking about his new political interest, the Speaker said: “After consulting widely, I have decided to contest for the governorship of Sokoto State. I thank my friends who collected the presidential forms for me, nonetheless”.
According to reports, Tambuwal’s decision was greatly influenced by consultations with strong members of the party who support the ambition of retired General Muhammadu Buhari.
