Suspected Hoodlums Set Rivers High Court On Fire

Rivers State Police Command on Monday announced that the High Court in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State had been set on fire by suspected hoodlums.
State police command spokesperson, ASP Grace Iringe-Koko, who made this known to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said no life was lost in the incident which occurred in the early hours of Monday.
According to her, Tunde Ogunsakin, the state Commissioner of Police had visited the scene with the Anti-Bomb Team of the command and collected bits and pieces of what was left of the building for analysis.
“In the exhibits, no trace of Improvised Explosive Device was found and from the analysis so far, none of the features of explosion was present.
“There was no evidence of explosion; no shock waves and no bang. The command however observed burning that resulted in conflagrations”, Irin-ge-Koko said.
She added that the commissioner of police after leaving the scene of the incident, visited the judge of the high court, Charles Wali, at his Ahoada
residence.
The PPRO said that the police had reinforced security in the court premises and living quarters of judiciary staff in order to avoid re-occurrence of such incident.
“The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and the Police Bomb Squad has been mandated to fish out the perpetrators of the
crime” Iringe-Koko said and further revealed that no arrest has been made over the incident, but assured that the perpetrators would be brought to book soon.
