Super Eagles Qualify for CHAN’s Semi-finals after Heroic 4-3 Comeback against Morocco
Nigeria’s home based Super Eagles fought back from three goals down to beat Morocco 4-3 after extra-time qualifying for the semi-finals of the Championship of African Nations.
Mohsine Moutaouali scored either side of a strike from Iajour Mouhssine in the space of seven minutes to put Morocco 3-0 up before half-time.
Ugonna Uzochukwu and Rabiu Ali however replied for Nigeria, scoring after the break and Ejike Uzoenyi levelled on 90 minutes.
And Aliyu Ibrahim then scored the winner with nine minutes of extra-time left.
Speaking after the match, the Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi said he was happy that the boys fought back to win the match. He said, “This is a dream come true,As a student in coaching school dreamt of coaching a team and come from 3 to 4 goals down to win, I told the boys to calm down and play to instructions as they were better than the moroccan, I feel on top of the world and I am happy.”
Mali take on Zimbabwe in Saturday’s other quarter-final. Zimbabwe team is leading by a lone goal after 45minutes. The second half has just begun
