The Super Eagles have lost their chance to defend their title as Africa’s football champions in the 2015 African cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea after playing a 2-2 draw with South Africa at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo on Wednesday.

Nigeria finished third in Group A with 8 points, while Congo, who won 1-0 in Sudan, finished second with 10 points.

Tokelo Rantie took South Africa two goals up, scoring in the 42nd and 48th minute, but Nigeria equalised in the 68th minute and in stoppage time through Sone Aluko.
