Super Eagles Demand Payment of Appearance Fees from NFF

The Super Eagles have reportedly demanded the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pay them appearance fees for the 2014 FIFA World Cup starting in Brazil on June 12.
The players who are to be paid match bonuses, starting from $10,000-a-man for a first round match win were led by Joseph Yobo and Mikel Obi and held a meeting with the Federation president, Aminu Maigari, demanding for the additional payment “for at least featuring in the first round of the World Cup”.
Nigeria will earn over $9 million for qualification and participation in the first round of the 2014 World Cup and more benefits if the Super eagles reach the knockout stages. Each player received an appearance fee of $3,000 for the three warm-up friendlies against Scotland, Greece and USA in comparison to the $75,000-a-man appearance fee paid to each of the 23 players in the Ghanaian squad.
There have been several arguments surrounding the issue, including a recent case that almost jeopardised the country’s participation in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.
