Stop the Campaign of Calumny Against Alao-Akala, Group Warns
“Team Akala” has frowned at the indiscriminate dissemination of untrue information about the personality of Otunba Alao Akala, former Governor of Oyo State by politicians to score cheap political goals.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Team’s coordinator Prince Niran Adeyoju in which they also cautioned against circulating fake and damaging stories about Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala in the news and on socio- media.
“Following the unprecedented and overwhelming acceptability of our principal which was demonstrated by the people of Oyo state who trooped out en-masse during the declaration last month, we noticed the clandestine move by some politicians especially those in the opposition parties to discredit the integrity and personality of Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala on the socio-media platform especially on facebook and twitter .
“ We bear no grudge against any politician selling himself to people but we will not tolerate any act of indiscipline in form of libel or slander against our principal as we have put efforts in motion to monitor and take necessary actions on any one culpable of violating the right of our principal and the team”
The team coordinator while harping on issue based and intellectual discussions said “there is no reason to go personal during campaign, serious politician rather than attacking or using derogatory words should tell the good people of oyo state their antecedents and plans for the development of the state as we have been doing in our various meetings with people ”.
“ As a team of professionals in private sectors supporting the return of Otunba Alao Akala as governor to restore the state back to the path of economic prosperity, we have looked carefully and decided to throw our weight behind Otunba Akala based on his performance while in office as governor between 2007- 2011”
“ Otunba Akala did not only perform creditably well, he was the first governor in the history of Oyo state who made remarkable achievements through socio -economic protection policy that enhances the economic and socio growth of the state during his tenure without making life difficult for people.
“He was able to demystified the intrigues of government and brought it to the doors of the common people in the state through accessibility, transparency and provision of basic needs and infrastructural developments.
His policies and performance in Health, education and environmental sanitation are no doubt of positive impact in the state and that is why majority of the masses are clamouring for him to return as governor of the state in 2015”, the group concluded.
