Stop Marginalisation of Ogun West – Yewa Descendants Union, UK/Ireland

Sharing is caring!

Yewa Descendants Union, UK/Ireland has called on Ogun state government under the leadership of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, FCA to review the partnership proposal by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to have the activities of Funturf International in only two senatorial constituencies in the state. According to the organisation’s President, Mr Adetunji Ebo, if the proposal as published is not reviewed it will clearly show that, the government of the day whom we think will address the long marginalisation of Ogun West people is also guilty of the sins of past governments in the state against their people. “Ogun West have been marginalised by successive administration in the scheme of things. Imagine, we have four standard stadia in the state and the Ministry of Youths and Sports want to do a 30 days soccer project in the state without involving Ogun West, where we have a standard stadium. “If we did not have a stadium of international standard in Ilaro which is the headquarters of Ogun West that would have saved them, but we have. Why does Ministry of Youth and Sports think our people did not deserve to have a part in the proposed soccer project? “I am on behalf of my Union and good people of Ogun West calling on the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, FCA, to review the sports’ ministry and have Ogun West included in the soccer events” he said. Mr Ebo quoted a publication in respect of the event: “Ogun State Government has gone into partnership with Funturf International to bring live soccer experience with the launch of Samba Parks at major locations in the state. The project, an initiative of the state’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, will hold for 30 days at three locations namely Sagamu, Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta. According to the CEO of Funturf International, Olumide Mabawonku, the project is scheduled to hold throughout the month of June.” Mr Ebo concluded that, the proposal is not acceptable. “We all belong to Ogun State and no sectional should be relegated or treat like a spare tyre”. He said.
