Singer, Solange Knowles has finally broken her silence on the altercation that ensued between her and her brother-in-law, Shawn Carter, also known as Jay Z following the Met Gala in May.

While talking to Lucky Magazine, Beyonce Knowles’ sister said about the aftermath of the fight: “What’s important is that my family and I are all good.”

In May, Solange, Beyonce and Jay Z said they’d “moved forward as a united family” after a three-minute video was leaked on 12 May by celebrity magazine, TMZ, showing the trio in a hotel elevator in New York. Solange was hitting Jay Z as a security guard tried to restrain her while Beyonce looked on. It’s still not clear what the argument, which Solange calls “that thing”, was about.

In the interview, the 28-year-old added: “What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.”

The Losing You singer also said her parents had taught her and Beyonce to hold on to their family bond, saying: “We’ve [Solange and Beyonce] always held each other down no matter what.”

The statement also read: “As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident.

“But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.”

Solange recently performed at Coachella music festival in the US, where Beyonce joined her on stage for a surprise guest appearance.

Jay Z, 44, and Beyonce, 32, who got married in 2008, started their US co-headlining On the Run Tour in Miami on 25 June and appeared at the 2014 BET awards via a previously recorded video.
