Shooting Stars Places 10 Players on Suspension

The management of Ibadan Football Club, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have on Wednesday, confirmed suspending 10 players ahead of the start of the new Nigeria National League season.

The suspension are meant to be part of the changes the club is making after being relegated to the lower league last season since finishing last place on the League table with 46 points. The changes are parts of efforts to rebuild the club’s strength as the fight for a position back in the Upper League.

The 10 players who were suspended for being absent without warranted leave are Mutiu Adegoke, Olabisi Samuel, Chima Akas, Eke Jacob, Azeez Shobowale, Philip Asuquo, Osagona Ighodaro, Tony Edjomariegwe, Ismaila Gata and Laide Okanlawon.

While the chairman of the Club, Tunde Anifowose-Kelani, said the whereabouts of the suspended players was not known, he also re-affirmed the club’s mission.

“We are serious and determined to return the club to the Premier League within six months. We want to work with committed players who can help the club achieve its dream.”

The club also placed Morenikeji Akanbi, Tare Okeh, Lateef Adigun, Musa Raphael, Akindele Toluwase and Charles Etuwe on transfer, while Oladapo Femi, Kingsley Eduwo, Gabriel Adikwu, David Amanyi and Richard Ocheayi have been released to join other clubs.
