Shinji Kagawa to Return to Former Club Borussia Dortmund
Manchester United player Shinji Kagawa is set to return to Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth up to €12.5 million.
Dortmund have been trying to re-sign Kagawa, who has failed to establish himself at Old Trafford since moving from Signal Iduna Park for around €20m back in June 2012.
The Japan international will now sign a four-year contract with the German club in a deal worth an initial €7.5m with up to €5m in add-ons.
Dortmund’s youth coordinator Lars Ricken confirmed the talks, saying: “We still have two or three days left [of the transfer window]. Then we will see if he wears the Dortmund jersey again.”
The 25-year-old won two Bundesliga titles and a DFB-Pokal while at Dortmund for two seasons and is considered an unrequired extra by Red Devils’ coach, Luis Van Gaal after the recruitment of Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria this summer.
