Serena Williams Wins 6th US Open Title
Serena Williams defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-3,6-3 on Sunday to win her 6th US Open final and 18th Grand Slam singles title.
The World number one who had not advanced past the fourth round of a Grand Slam event this year, has now won the U.S. Open for the third year in a row and now ties Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova for most Grand Slams won by a woman.
The 32-year-old, who is also the oldest woman to win the tournament, was the only player among the top nine seeds to reach the quarterfinals.
She showed she was a dominant force once again, losing less than three games in a set before the US Open final, after struggling at Grand Slam events this year.
