Senegal’s President Removes Prime Minister

Senegalese officials say President Macky Sall has removed Prime
Minister Aminata Toure from office after her party’s poor showing
in local elections.

Toure had been prime minister since September.

Initial election results show Toure’s Alliance for the Republic
doing poorly in the capital, Dakar, and other big cities.

Many voters in Senegal have complained that the government
has failed to strengthen the economy and create enough jobs.
