Senate Announces Leaders Amidst Controversy

 Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki has defied the party’s position as regards the leadership of the Senate by announcing four candidates for the Senate leadership position.

 Senator Bukola Saraki announced Senator Ali Ndume as Senate Leader , Senator Bala Ibn Nalla as Deputy Senate Leader. He also announced Sen. Olusola Adeyeye as Chief Whip and Francis Alimakanah as Senate Deputy Chief Whip.

 Channels TV reports that the candidate selected by the party for the position of majority leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan did not take part in the election.

 However Senator Francis Alimkanah was unopposed as he is the only southern APC lawmaker in the Senate.
