Seedorf to Succeed Allegri at AC Milan
Former Netherlands Midfielder, Clarence Seedorf has announced the end of his playing career and confirmed that he is set to be unveiled as the new manager of AC Milan.
The 37-year-old was linked with the vacant post after Massimiliano Allegri’s sack following AC Milan’s 4-3 defeat to a Relegation-threatened club.
Seedorf has been playing since 2012 for Brazilian club Botafogo, but now says a deal is in place for him to succeed Allegri at the San Siro.
“I am here to announce that I will retire from playing after 22 years,” Seedorf told reporters in Brazil.
“It has been a difficult decision, but I am satisfied with what I have achieved in my career. Here at Botafogo I am happy because I leave a team which has qualified for the [Copa] Libertadores. I leave an improved club, especially in terms of their mentality and team spirit.
“Yes, I will be the coach at Milan.”
Seedorf now has to help the club up from their present 11th position on the Serie A Table with only 6 points above the Relegation point and also fight for a place in the UEFA Quarter-Finals as they face Athletico Madrid on February 8 and March 11.
