Bayern Munich star, Bastian Schweinsteiger has apologised for singing a demeaning song about arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund.

The Germany international was caught on camera chanting a tune that insults the Dortmund players and fans, while celebrating his country’s World Cup success in a Munich bar two days after the 1-0 win over Argentina in Rio de Janeiro.

“I want to apologise to all the fans, coaches and players of Borussia Dortmund,” Schweinsteiger wrote on his Facebook profile.

“This is a well-known fan song but with a curse word. I didn’t want to offend anyone. I get on very well with all the Dortmund players – especially Kevin Grosskreutz.”

Four Dortmund players- Grosskreutz, Mats Hummels, Erik Durm and Roman Weidenfeller – were involved in Germany’s successful world cup campaign alongside Schweinsteiger.
