Saraki condemns Yobe church attack

Nigeria’s Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has condemned in strong terms Sunday’s bomb attack on innocent worshipers at a Redeemed Church of God in Potiskum, Yobe state.

Senator Saraki who stated this in a press statement from his media Office was of the opinion that sending Nigerians to untimely graves can never be the solution to any religious, political or economic grievances.

He said: “My heart is with individuals and families who were directly or indirectly affected by this ungodly, sadistic and evil act” The Senate President urged members of the Boko Haram sect to take advantage of the Federal Government recent position that it will not oppose negotiation with the insurgents as an olive branch extended to them.

Senator Saraki was of the opinion that the Federal Government has demonstrated enough political will to engage any group in dialogue aimed at bringing these vicious and sad attacks to a final stop.

The Senate President urged Nigerians not to give in to fear or be discouraged as a result of these renewed attacks as the Senate and the National Assembly under his leadership, would support President Muhammadu Buhari in his determination to retool and motivate the Armed Forces to decisively fight the war against terrorism.

He also urged Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to seek God’s intervention through prayer, on ways to end all forms of insecurity befalling the nation.
