Riot breaks out in Taraba state as Arsonists raze INEC Office over Inconclusive Governorship polls
The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Gembu, the headquarters of Sardauna local government area of Taraba state was on Tuesday attacked by rioters in a move perceived to show displeasure with the outcome of the gubernatorial polls in the state.
The house of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Gebon Kataps, was also attacked by the arsonists alongside many other homes.
When contacted, the Spokesman of the police, Assistant Superintendent of Police Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the police were investigating the number of homes razed and whether there were casualties.
He said that the force was on ground in the state to maintain law and order.
