Redeployment of Tambuwal’s Security Details Is Constitutional – Police Headquarters
The Nigerian Police Force has made it clear the reason for the removal of its personnel attached to Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives. In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. CP Emmanuel C. S. Ojukwu. Psc, the Force Headquarters noted that it was done with the provision of Section 68, 1, g, of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended.
“In view of the recent defection by the Right Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and having regard to the clear provision of Section (68) (1) (g) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has redeployed it’s personnel attached to his office”, the statement said.
Tambuwal on Tuesday at the floor ‎of the House of Representatives announced his defection from the PDP to the opposition APC. He was officially received into the party on Wednesday at a special convention of the party.
