Rama Appointed As Sundowns Captain
The Brazilians have been expected to appoint a new captain for the 2015/16, following the departure of Alje Schut from the club at the end of last season.
Mphahlele has been a strong candidate for the team’s leadership role on the field, with Pitso Mosimane having been speaking very highly of the versatile player.
Earlier this week, it was reported by the Siya crew that Sundowns are expected to approach the new season with a committee of captains.
Mphahlele, Siyanda Zwane, Teko Modise, Hlompho Kekana, Surprise Moriri, Thabo Nthethe and Kennedy Mweene are some of the players expected to play important roles for the team in that committee.
Sources close to Sundowns have confirmed to the Siya crew that Mphahlele has been given the task of wearing the armband and to lead the team in the new season, starting with the MTN8 game against Bloemfontein Celtic tonight. Soccer Laduma.
