Protest as OAU  Management Announces Hike‎ In School Fees

Simmering crisis is now brewing between the management and students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun state, Nigeria.

Information has it that authorities of the institution have just announced an increase in the institution’s school fees from seventeen thousand naira(N17,000) to seventy thousand naira(N70,000) for incoming students.

The development, NigerianEcho learnt did not go down well with the students who trooped out to protest what they described as over thirty per cent increase in their school fees.

However, the institution’s public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju said the increment became necessary because of inadequate funding by the federal government and the need to maintain academic excellence.

He added that the new fee regime is only for the incoming students and not the old students:-)
