Professor’s Son Gunned Down As Police Foil Alleged Undergraduate Robbery Operation

A student of Kogi State University, Rumba Menebe, who is also the son of a renowned professor in the university, according to a report by Channels TV has been shot dead by the Police during a robbery operation.
According to the report, the State Police Commissioner, Sai’du Madawaki, who paraded some alleged robbery suspects, the deceased corpse and three others, alleged they were cultists who had gone to rob an occupant of a white house phase II lodge in Ayingba.
The Commissioner, the report added said that the suspects engaged policemen in Ayingba and in the process one of them was shot dead.
However, as reported by the TV, a 20-year old suspect, Ugochukwu Rapheal, who is a 100 level student studying History and Jimoh Farouk, a 400 level student studying Mathematics claimed that they had gone out that night to buy food before the incident took place.
Another suspect, 23-year old, Babatunde Obaniro, a Mechanical Engineering student in the same university who was paraded for breaking into a shop with his group to steal hand set, confessed to the crime.
All the suspects, the Police said, will soon be charged to court after investigation.
