Politics Of Ogun Cabinet reshuffle
Although it is not in our character to respond or react to misguided and misleading statements by purported competitors or opponents, we wish to make an exception in this regard because this particular insinuation has the potential to insight the people against our mentor and leader, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun (FCA). Like everyone in the state, our team received the announcement of the redeployment of some political appointees in the state with guided optimism.
A routine administrative process that repositions officials for improved service delivery has been turned into political blackmail by some of ”our” brothers who went around town celebrating. They held a meeting in Ilaro at about 11pm on Sunday 12th of January and announced that the redeployment of Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (SSA) on Taxation & Revenue to the Min. of Social Dev was a sign that he has lost favor with his boss.
Contrary to this malicious lie, Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade remains one of the Governors most trusted and adored aid. The SSA before his present appointment was the CEO of a wealth management firm, even though the Governor only met him in February 2011, Adekunle was selected to serve in one of the Transition committees (Finance) upon assumption of office of His Excellency on May 29th 2011. To further prove his love and adoration for the young Yewa man, the Governor appointed him as an SSA on Taxation & Revenue (July 2011), a position he held until his redeployment on the 12th of January 2014.
As SSA in charge of the Directorate of Other Taxes at the Ogun State Board of Internal Revenue, Adekunle helped reposition a rather stagnant Agency to where it is today. You only need to speak with the staff, numerous people and tax payers that interacted with Adekunle during the cause of carrying out his duties at the board and you will appreciate his contributions and selfless nature. We were not surprised to hear that some staff at the Agency actually wept when the news broke about his redeployment. That is the man Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade for you.
It may be necessary to state here that the routine deployment as announced on Sunday 12th of January 2014 actually involved 12 other political appointees who were moved to various posts within the government. Prominent amongst them is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation & Revenue who was redeployed to the Min. of Agriculture. The SSA Tax Audit (OGIRS) was redeployed to the Min. of Finance. As you can see, the deployment of our brother has nothing to do with any adverse relationship with his boss but an opportunity to contribute and bring his wealth of experience to bare at his new place of assignment.
Before this particular reshuffle process, the Sen. Ibikunle Amosun’s government had carried out more than three such processes in the past that affected Commissioners, Special Advisers and SSAs, some of whom are his childhood friends and confidants. The Hon. Commissioner for Enviroment for example was formerly at the Ministries of Agriculture, Forestry before his present portfolio. This same mischievous group of individuals were quick to announce that the movement of the Hon. Commissioner across three ministries within two years was the Governor’s way of preparing the Hon. Commissioner for the Governorship seat come 2019.
A meta, agbe!!! as he is popularly called by his timing supporters remains our pride and hope in Yewa South / Ipokia Federal Constituency. Triple A will get the party (APC) nomination and win the general elections come 2015 by Gods grace. We are confident that this great son of Yewa will deliver both Yewa South and Ipokia Local Government Areas for our amiable Governor in 2015.
As we said in the beginning, it is not in our character to engage in such trivial talks, but we want the truth to be told so our people may be liberated from their lies.
