Political Parties sign Peace Pact in Lokoja
The Peoples Democratic Party, the All Progressive Congress and other political parties in Lokoja, have signed a peace accord to ensure free, fair, and violence-free general elections in the state.
The peace pact which was signed at the state police headquarters in Lokoja, was organised by the state chapter of the Inter Party Accord Committee.
The Police Commissioner in the state, Adeyemi Ogunjemulusi said the peace accord was done so as to ensure peace in the state before, during and after the elections.
He said: “The police shall provide a level playing ground for all parties and their candidates. We also admonish all parties not to use masquerades during the election period. Any masquerade which perpetuates violence will be arrested and prosecuted.”
