Policeman Suffers Double Tragedy …..Hit By Paralysis, Loses Son To Cult Members
FELIX MORDI
It will only take the special grace of God for the family of Ogidan in Idi-Orogbo area of Onipetesi, Ijoko, Ifo Local Government Council area of Ogun State, to get over their present predicaments.
NigerianEcho can authoritatively report that, while the family was still contending with the paralysis that had confined their head of family and breadwinner, retired inspector of police Ogidan to bed for a year now, a somewhat poisonous salt was added to their injury penultimate week, when their heir-apparent was hacked to death by a rival cult group.
The family may not easily forget the incident as the victim, Yussuf Ogidan, was pulled out of their house by his assailants, who called on his paralyzed father as well as his mother to say their last prayers for him, even as they compelled them to witness the rain of cutlass on him.
Inspector Ogidan who has lost his voice to the illness merely watched helplessly, just as the wife screamed to high heavens.
According to sources, the rampaging cult members stormed Idi-Orogbo residence of the Ogidans at about 4:00am on the fateful day, armed with dangerous weapons such as guns and cutlasses and, apparently sensing that there could resistance from night guards and landlords, they were said to have announced their presence, saying they were not armed robbers but cult members on a reprisal mission.
While warning them to steer clear, as they were on a retaliatory mission, they, however, announced that whoever was not comfortable with their presence could attempt to dare them.
The angry cultists were said to have furiously announced that one of their members who the late Yussuf led his group to attack gave up the ghost a day prior, hence their reprisal.
Some of the community members spoken to, though, were taken aback as to the membership of the motorbike (okada) rider Yussuf, given his quiet nature and innocent look, but had no reservation in condemning his father, who they described as uncourteous and arrogant.
