vi. TWO JUVENILE SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR RAPE

1. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (LAGOS‬ STATE): On 16.06.2014 at about 10:00AM, upon a distress call of robbery at Apple Junction FESTAC Town, Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where a gang of armed robbers operating on motorcycle were seen dispossessing member of the public of their belongings at gun point. One of the suspects (male) was arrested and one locally-made double barrel pistol with two (2) live cartridges recovered from him. Efforts to apprehend other gang members that fled the scene are being intensified, State CID Panti is investigating.

2. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (IMO‬ STATE): On 21.06.2014 at about 8:30AM, Police operatives on patrol at ITC Motor park Owerri intercepted one male passenger and when searched two (2) locally-made pistols with twelve (12) live cartridges, seven (7) mobile phones and two (2) laptops were recovered from him. On further intensive search on the remaining passengers, two (2) more male passengers were nabbed with two (2) locally-made pistols with one live cartridge and six (6) 9mm live ammunition all tactfully concealed in their pants. State CID #‎Owerri‬ is investigating.

3. FOILED ROBBERY/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (ONDO‬ STATE): On 18.06.2014 at about 2:30AM, Police received distress call that suspected armed robbers have laid siege at a point along Ikare-Owo road close to Oba Town. Police patrol teams were immediately mobilized to the scene where a shootout ensued. The suspects succumbed to superior firepower of the Police and escaped into nearby bush with bullet wounds. Five (5) locally-made rifles with thirteen (13) machetes abandoned by the hoodlums were recovered at the scene. One Policeman sustained slight pellets injuries during the encounter; he was rushed to Hospital where he is responding to treatment. State CID Akure‬ is investigating.

4. FOILED ROBBERY/ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT (KADUNA‬ STATE): On 21.06.2014 at about 2.30AM, Police patrol team along Gwanta/Akwanga Expressway intercepted a gang of suspected armed robbers that blocked a part of the said road in a bit to rob travelers. There was a shootout and one of the suspects (male) arrested after sustaining bullet wounds, others gang members fled the scene with gun injuries. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are being intensified, State CID Kaduna is investigating.

5. FOILED ROBBERY/ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT (EDO‬ STATE): On 22.06.2014 at about 1:00PM, suspected armed robbery gang operating with one Honda vehicle with reg. no. FGG 561 AA blocked another vehicle (details withheld) along Benin-Agbor road by Ogbogiri village but the driver zoomed off. However, the hoodlums pursed and fired at the said vehicle. This incident was intercepted by Police patrol team on the road who then gave the suspects a hot chase with exchange of gunfire. Hoodlums later abandoned their operational vehicle and fled into the bush with bullet wounds, the only suspect left behind in the vehicle suffered fatal injury. All victims were safely rescued; one of the victims that sustained slight injury was taken to hospital. Corpse of hoodlum deposited at the mortuary. Effort is being made to track down the fleeing suspects, State CID Benin‬ is investigating.

6. RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLES/ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS (KADUNA STATE): On 16.06.2014 Police operatives at ABU Campus Zaria intercepted two male persons both from Anambra State, both men discovered to have brought two stolen vehicles; one Pilot Jeep with reg. No. KE 143 AAA snatched at Abuja and one Peugeot 406 with reg. No. MPA 271 AA stolen from Anambra state to sell to students. Both vehicles impounded and suspects taken into custody, State CID Kaduna are investigating.

7. RECOVERY OF ROCKET BOMB (ANAMBRA‬ STATE): On 19.06.2014 at about 12:05PM, Police received information that an object suspected to be bomb has been discovered at Umuokpu village, Police Bomb experts where immediately dispatched to the scene where an unexploded rocket bomb suspected to be one of those used during the last Nigeria civil war was discovered. Ordinance recovered for safe demolition. EOD Unit Awka‬ is investigating.

8. RAPE/APPREHENSION OF JUVENILE SUSPECTS (KATSINA‬ STATE): On 22.06.2014 at about 5:00PM, upon a report Police apprehended two minor boys aged 13yrs and 12yrs for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of an 8yr old girl at Faskari, Katsina State. The victim was taken to General Hospital Funtua for medical attention. State CID Katsina is investigating.
