Police warn against the use of fireworks in Bayelsa
Yenagoa – The Police in Bayelsa on Wednesday warned against the use of fireworks in the state during the yuletide, saying that they are are “dangerous” to the environment.
The Police spokesman in the state, ASP Asinim Butswat, gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Butwat gave assurance that the police would ensure adequate security during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He warned that anyone who violated the order would be arrested and prosecuted irrespective of his or her status.
“Our men are fully on ground; we have observed that those using fireworks are mainly under-age people.
“The police will not relent in arresting such persons.
“We are also going to investigate where and how those illegal explosives are being sold,’’ Butwat said. (NAN)
