Police takes over Edo Assembly

Nigeria Police and other security agents on Monday in an effort to avert breakdown of law and order cordoned off the premises of Edo House of Assembly.
Information has it that plain clothed security personnel and fully armed policemen in about 10 Hilux patrol vans and an Armoured Personnel Carrier were strategically positioned within and around the state assembly complex.
The three entrances to the assembly complex were also manned by stern looking mobile policemen and DSP operatives prevent people and workers from gaining access into the complex.
The State Police spokesperson, Mr Abiodun Osifo in his reaction to the development said that the action was taken to “avoid repetition of what happened last Wednesday at the complex”.
The ugly development started last week when 16 members of the state assembly removed the erstwhile Speaker of the House, Mr Victor Edoro and replaced with Mrs Elizabeth Ativie.
