POLICE REPORTS FROM SOME COMMANDS IN NIGERIA

1. ARREST OF SUSPECTED INSURGENTS (BAUCHI‬ STATE): On 01.07.2014 at about 8:4AM, Police operatives intercepted three male suspected insurgent elements making their way out of Balmo forest in Darazo, Bauchi State. Suspects have been taken into custody, detailed investigation ongoing.

2. IMPERSONATING A POLICE OFFICER/ARREST OF SUSPECT (IMO‬ STATE): On 01.07.2014 at about 1:30PM, one Johnson K. Emenike ‘m’of Ngorkpala dressed in Nigeria Police Force uniform with the rank of CSP arrived at the Imo State Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad office, he introduced himself as a Police officer attached to the Kaduna State Police Command. He then demanded for the release on bail of one arrested male kidnap suspect in custody. However, the gentleman was discovered to be a fake Policeman as the said particulars he presented doesn’t exist in the NPF staff list. Johnson confessed that he is not a Policeman but only wanted to take advantage of the uniform to secure the release of one of his gang members. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. Anti-kidnapping Squad #‎Owerri‬ is investigating.

3. ARREST OF CATTLE RUSTLER/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (ZAMFARA‬ STATE): On 03.07.2014 at about 12:32AM, Police Mobile Force “MOPOL” personnel on Crime Prevention Patrol at Dansadan area intercepted one 19yr-man of Kankara village via Kattsina from whom one AK 47 rifle with nine (9) rounds of life ammunition was recovered. Thirty-eight (38) Cows and fifteen (15) Sheep suspected to have been stolen were also found under his control. Suspect arrested, State CID #‎Gusau‬ is investigating.

4. SUICIDE (OGUN‬ STATE): On 05.07.2014 at about 5:00PM, upon information, Police operatives recovered the decomposing body of one Habeeb Olatunde ‘m’ a 44yr old Bank Manager (Bank name withheld). Body was found hanging in an uncompleted deck building structure at NUJ Phase 1 Arepo, Ibafo. Scene was processed accordingly and corpse released to family members for burial in accordance with Islamic rites as requested. Police had earlier received a report of missing person in respect of the deceased on 18.06.2014 at 3:30PM. State CID Abeokuta is investigating.

5. RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (BENUE‬ STATE): On 06.07.2014 upon information, Police operatives arrested two male persons at Gboko town and recovered one locally-made pistol from the suspects. State CID #‎Makurdi‬ is investigating.

6. RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (RIVERS‬ STATE): On 06.07.2014 at about 1:00PM, Police patrol team on stop and search along Ogbogoro/Ozuoba road intercepted one Nissan Primera car with reg. no. ABU 837 BB with three male occupants and upon a search one locally-made pistol with one live cartridge was recovered from the suspects. All three suspects arrested and taken into custody, State CID Port-Harcourt is investigating.

7. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (OGUN STATE): On 06.07.2014 at about 7:00AM, acting on information Police SARS operatives raided the hideout of a notorious armed robbery gang based in Dalemo area of Sango Otta who has been terrorizing Sango Otta and environ. On sighting the Police team, the hoodlums numbering about ten opened fire on the Police team and the team returned fire. Three male gang members were arrested having sustained bullet wounds from the shootout while others fled the scene into the nearby bushed. One (1) Pump Action gun loaded with four (4) live cartridges, one cut-to-size double barrel gun loaded with two cartridges, one (1) Assault rifle magazine loaded with twelve (12) rounds of live ammunition and some assorted Charms were recovered from the arrested suspects. Injured suspects were rushed to the hospital for treatment, two of them were pronounced dead on arrival. Effort to apprehend other suspects that fled the scene are being intensified, State CID #‎Abeokuta‬ is investigating.
