Police kill Three Robbers, Arrest Herbalist, Two Others

Three members of a robbery gang who have been terrorising Ogun State have been killed. A herbalist who has been assisting the gang to escape police arrest is in police net.
Ogun Police Command announced this yesterday in a statement by the command spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi. The statement also revealed that, two members of a robbery gang were in their net.
According to the PPRO, men of the State Command’s Special Anti Robbery Squad led by Inspector Adeyemi Akeem on Friday, April 25 burst a gang of robbers that specialised in snatching cars, at toll gate in Otta, Ogun State around 6pm, killing two of the robbers and arrested one Yusuf Ahmed.
It stated: “The robbers had snatched one Mercedes Benz ML 320 SUV with number plate LND 779 AQ from the owner at Dalemo area of Ota on Thursday, April 24 around 2pm and the team had since then put them under surveillance before the arrest.
One of the suspects, Yusuf Ahmed, 21, the statement revealed is from Oja Oba in Ibadan, Oyo State but resides in Temidire area of Ota in Ogun State. He is an alumnus of the Command Secondary School, Ibadan 2010 set and had been before now sentenced to imprisonment at Ikoyi Prison, Lagos State for a similar offence where he spent nine months before he was released.
Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, according to the spokesman encountered another syndicate that specialised in highway robberies in the state.
“During the encounter, one of the robbers was shot and later died while two of them, who were fatally injured, were arrested with one pump action gun, three locally made guns and 30 rounds of ammunition.
“One of the suspects is Obong Imeh, 37, an Efik man from Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, who resides at Ikenne Remo, Ogun State. He is a father of three and has been in the dirty business for years, according to him.
“He is a strong man (spiritually) as he used to disappear whenever he encountered security operatives except his blood touches the ground before he could be arrested. So he was arrested when the police bullet hit him and his blood touched the ground.
“The second suspect, Sarumi jide,37, a father of 2 is from Ita Ajia, Ilorin Kwara State. He finished from Technical College ijebu-Igbo Ogun State in 2010.
“Sarumi is the Armourer to the syndicate and he claimed to be getting the arms from cult boys in Ijebu Ode whenever they had operations.” He said.
The commissioner of Police in the state CP Ikemefuna Okoye according to the statement has ordered SARS to carry out a thorough investigation on the two cases and fish out other members of the two syndicates and their accomplices.
He however assured the general public of bringing the suspects to book so as to serve as deterrent to others in the state and Nigeria at large.
The police boss also reaffirmed his directive of putting officers and men of the command on their toes to continue the war against cultism in Ogun State . He added that revelations from the robbers have confirmed the connivance of cultists with armed robbers who terrorise the good people of the state.
