Police disburse N52m to relatives of 15 dead officers

Zone 8 Command of Nigeria Police in Lokoja has disbursed N52 million to relatives of 15 policemen who lost their lives in the course of service
Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries on Thursday in Lokoja, the AIG in charge of the zone, Mr Tanko Lawal, said the money was being paid under the Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for men and officers.
According to him, the money was to provide immediate relief to the dependants of the dead policemen.
AIG Lawal, while advising the beneficiaries to spend the money judiciously while other entitlement were being worked out said that six other policemen that sustained varying degrees of injuries in the course of duty were also pad N100, 000 each for treatment.
Mr Victor Maji, who responded on behalf of beneficiaries commended the management of the Nigeria Police Force for coming to their aid, saying that the gesture was timely.
