POLICE COMMISSION DISMISSES 3 SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS, DISCIPLINES 29 OTHERS

‎The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the dismissal of three senior police officers and disciplinary action against 29 others for professional misconduct.

The dismissed officers according to a press statement signed by the commission’s Assistant Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr Fernadinand Ekpe are; DSP Sa’adu Akanbi, ASPs Ignatius Atta and James Sanio.

The commission said they were sacked for conducts unbecoming of law enforcement officers.

The statement revealed that in addition to the dismissal, the duo of DSP Akanbi and ASP Sanio would be prosecuted.

It stated that the three officers were among 31 senior officers sanctioned by the commission due to the severity of offences they committed.

Also in the statement, 12 officers, including Commissioner of Police Sanusi Rufai, were severely reprimanded for various offences, an ASP compulsorily retired for unbecoming conduct while four officers, including a CSP Bethram Onuoha, were reduced in rank.

“CSP Onuoha, who was reduced in rank to SP, is to forfeit seven months’ salary”

The statement stated further that, the commission reprimanded seven officers and issued letters of advice to two others and treated six promotion appeals.
