Nigeria Police in Bayelsa State has placed an embargo on all forms of rally or demonstration in the state.

The order is contained in a statement issued by Deputy-Inspector-Genaral of Police, Hashimu Argungu.

The statement stated inter alia: “This form of conduct will jeopardise the ongoing electoral process. Therefore, the command warns ‎the intending perpetrators to desist from such acts as it will deal decisively with any person or group of persons who wishes to engage in any conduct that will compromise the existing peaceful atmosphere.

“Members of the public are advised to go about normal business, as security agencies are poised to guarantee the safety of lives and properties.”
