POLICE ARREST MAN,37, FOR DEFILING 7 YEAR OLD GIRL …Arrest Fake Soldiers With Dummy Gun
The Police Detectives attached to Sagamu Division of the Ogun State Police command on Saturday at 1800 hrs arrested Dabeshi Umoru,m,37,of Dadajira Street,Sabo,Sagamu for defiling a 7 year old girl of the same address in sagamu,Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The father of the victim,who came to report the incident to the police,stated that the suspect had forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her daughter on Friday at about 1600 hrs.
The suspect did not deny the allegation. The matter will be charged to court immediately the case is transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Eleweran Abeokuta for the command has credible evidence to arraign the suspect.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Abdulmajid Ali has condemned the act and vowed to deal decisively with anyone caught in this barbaric act in the state. He however warned parents and guardians not to entrust their young ones in the hand of undesirable and criminally-minded elements.
In another development,the Police Detectives attached to Onipanun Division of the Command have arrested One Ayodele Adedeji,m,of Jackross,Iyana Iyesi,Ota for parading himself as a soldier in the Nigeria Army on Friday.
The suspect,who had been placed under surveillance by good members of the public in the area ,was accosted while the members of the community called the attention of a sergeant in the Nigerian army who resides in that same community to identify him,but the sergeant was not satisfied with the suspect’s explanation,hence his handing over to the police.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a fake soldier who had been in the dirty business of impersonation for long. He stated further that his elder brother was in the Army and he died some years back before he picked up all his uniforms and accoutrements for use.
Items recovered from the suspect included two pairs of complete Nigerian Army uniforms,fake NA ID card,jungle booth,dummy gun,and accoutrements of the Nigerian Army.
The Commissioner of Police CP Abdulmajid Ali has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation and Intelligence Ogun State to thoroughly investigate the matter and widen the scope of his investigation to know the antecedents of the suspect in the areas of kidnapping,land speculation, armed robbery and the like,so as to have proper investigation and prosecution of the case.
