Police, FRSC, NSCDC, FERMA Collaborate To Combat Highway Robbery

Nigeria Police, Federal. Road Safety Commission, National Security and Civil Defence Corps and Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in an efforts to combat crimes on the nation’s highways and enhance safety are to now work together.
In what look like first step and pointer to joint effort at achieving crime free highways in the country, Managing Director of FERMA, Mr Gabriel Amuchi, and the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, had a joint inspection tour of the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene road on Sunday.
The joint inspection tour was aimed at identifying the black spots along the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene road, particularly the Osara village in Kogi State.
Mr IGP during the tour, told journalists, the road had become a source of security concern to security operatives due to the incessant armed robbery and kidnapping attacks on the road.
Arase revealed that to make the roads across the country safe, a committee, comprising of the Police, the Federal Road Safety commission, FERMA and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has commenced the monitoring of the right of way across Nigeria.
