Plateau CP, Olakpe, retires from service

Commissioner of Police, Plateau State, Chris Olakpe, has been pulled out of the police after serving the force for 34 years.
The former commissioner of Police enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, in 1980 and rose through the ranks to the position of Commissioner before leaving the service.
While in the force, he served in various capacities, including the Area Commander, Jalingo; Force Public Relations Officer; Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State, and Deputy Commandant, Nigeria Police Academy, Kano, among others.
He was at the Force Headquarters in Abuja as Commissioner Police in charge of Information Technology, between August and December 2012, from where he was posted to Plateau State same year as Commissioner of Police.
At a farewell parade organised in his honour in Jos, on Thursday, Olakpe described the police force as one of the best organisations to work with.
The retired Commissioner, who was full of praises for security chiefs and other stakeholders both in the state and at the national level, said he enjoyed their cooperation and tremendous support throughout his service years.
“I deeply enjoyed the synergy and cooperation extended to me by stakeholders towards the fight against crime and criminality in Plateau State.
“This has yielded a lot of results putting the state at the lowest ebb in the league table of crime and criminality in Nigeria,” he said.
