People’s needs will determine my policies, says Isiaka
For any government to succeed in impacting positively in the lives of the people, their needs should form the basis of policies and decisions.
This was the submission of the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka during his campaign tour to market women and various groups in Abeokuta South Local Government Area yesterday.
Isiaka who was welcomed to the market by hundreds of market women, artisans and various youth groups promised to run a people-centered government that will take their needs into consideration before executing any project.
He said, “The essence of democracy is to allow people to take decisions about how they wanted to be governed. We shall take inputs from you and execute projects that you want. We shall not give what you don’t want or execute any project in any community apart from what that community requested for.
“I want to assure you that because of our desire to make life more abundant and expand the economy of the state, Small Scale Enterprises (SME) including trading will be accorded deserved attention. I promise that micro credit will be made available to all our traders in order to expand their business activities”.
Isiaka, who was joined in the campaign tour by the Ogun Central Senatorial candidate, Dr (Mrs) Bisola Soldipo-Clarke and the candidate for House of Representatives Yomi Ajayi , said Ogun People have suffered enough in the hands of the outgoing government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun who he described as “elitist and anti-people”.
He said, “I promised to run a transparent government, where openness and accountability shall be our watchword because we desire to make a positive change in the lives of our people”.
Responding to complaints by some aggrieved market women in Itoku, who lost their shops to demolition exercise carried out by the government without compensation, Isiaka promised to provide them another affordable shops.
He decried Amosun-led government for rendering the local councils ineffective in the state. Responding to the demands of some market women that pleaded with him to provide electricity for them in the markets, Isiaka said, “ordinarily it is the function of the local government to take care of our markets but the current government has crippled that third tier of government, but we shall address all these anomalies and make them function as expected of them”.
The PDP governorship candidate also promised to accord due respects to the traditional institutions if elected on February 28, this year.
He made the pledge while addressing the council of Baales in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State at Ijeun Lukosi in Abeokuta.
Isiaka, an Investment Banker turned politician said, if elected into office, rural roads will be given priority to engender commercial activities in the rural communities.
