PDP Leaders fault APC Senators for Standing against Obanikoro’s Ministerial Appointment
The Peoples Democratic Party has described the attempt by senators under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress to stand in the way of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro’s appointment as minister as “vindictive, laughable and unpatriotic.”
The senators based their stand against the confirmation of Obanikoro following allegations of his involvement in the alleged rigging the Ekiti State governorship election last year.
During a meeting in Akure, held by the Forum of the South West Publicity Secretaries of the PDP, leaders of the ruling party said that the action by the APC senators is be a threat to democracy good governance.
The forum said: “APC threat was an affront on the nation’s democracy and a deviation from the tradition of respecting former members of the upper chamber who had reasons to come before it for confirmation.
“The allegations raised against Obanikoro by the senators are unfounded and laughable, and their position is unbecoming of members of the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly.”
