PDP Crisis: Edwin Clark urges PDP to ignore Court Order. “Oyinlola Must Apologise or No return”
Chief Edwin Clark, a chieftain of the PDP and a strong supporter of President Jonathan has said that the PDP should not allow Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to resume as ordered by the Court of Appeal until he apologizes and show remorse for being part of the Baraje faction.
In a statement, the Ijaw leader said a public renounce of his membership of the faction is the condition that he must fulfil to get back to office.
Chief Clark’s position is contrary to the the Appeal Court judgement of Wednesday which expressly stated that “The trial court acted in error by granting the declarative reliefs sought by the Ogun state chapter of the PDP which challenged the election of the appellant.
“It is hereby ordered that the appellant, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, assume his original position as the National Secretary of the PDP forthwith’’
Chief Clark further took a swipe at the G7 Governors including Governors Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto) and Babangida Aliyu (Niger), for their regular visits to former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to him, “Their regular visit to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who is their mentor and from where they draw their inspiration for their organisation, must stop for the party to take a stand on their anti-party activities.
“For instance, their visit to Chief Obasanjo on Monday November 4, was after the police intervention at their meeting.
“One had expected that a former President of Nigeria and a leader of PDP for eight years and later Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party, would advise them to drop their evil machination, particularly after the court and the INEC had given their verdict on the activities.”
Clark, a regular visitor at Aso Rock criticized former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu for his interference in PDP matters. He said, Tinubu should remain in Lagos and leave PDP governors alone, adding that he is “busy dissipating his attention and energy by meddling in the internal affairs of PDP instead of ensuring that the dividends of democracy accrue to the citizens of APC-controlled states get to them.
“Tinubu should be warned to stay clear of PDP’s internal issues and not be a meddle-some interloper.”
The former Information Minister re-echoed party discipline and loyalty, saying those who are being rebellious were merely trying to kill the party for selfish reasons.
