Parents in Borno state want Schools Re-opened

Parents in Borno state have appealed to the State Government to re-open Public Secondary Schools, after 15 months of closure due to incessant Boko Haram attacks.
According to reports, some of the parents concerned told journalists in Maiduguri that they were sad over the closure of the schools.
One of them said: “Five out of my 16 children are secondary school students studying in public schools in Maiduguri. These five children have been staying at home for the past 15 months, without going to school, for no fault of theirs.
“Most people have either moved their children to other states or transferred them to private schools, to continue their education. But some of us have sent our children to relatives who live outside the state.”
He added, “It is so sad that we do not have money to transfer them to private schools. So the children are forced to stay at home doing nothing.”
They also commended the recent military efforts in combating the insurgents and said that the security was enough for the schools to re-open now.
