Oyo pastors score Ajimobi high, seek his second term
Pastors of various churches in all the 33 local government areas of Oyo State have pledged their support for the continuity of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi administration beyond 2015.
The pastors, under the aegis of Oyo State Pastors’ Forum, expressed the support when they paid a solidarity visit to the governor in his office in Ibadan on Monday.
In his address, the President of the Forum, Rev. Michael Onifade assured the governor of the readiness of the pastors to pray for the success and continuity of his administration.
“The pastors are out to pray for the continuity of this government till 2019. We are out to evangelize, mobilize, enlighten, educate and tell the truth about unparalleled achievements so far. We want to assure you that you have been anointed to take Oyo State to greater heights.
“What you have done in the last three years was never accomplished by any of your predecessors. We are pleased to be here today to appreciate your good works and to support your continued stay in office till 2019.
In his remarks, Governor Ajimobi charged the pastors to assist his government in propagating its various achievements in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
He described the Forum as a veritable instrument for spreading the good tidings of the government, urging members not to relent in their prayers for the success of his administration.
“I want you to be fishers of the people and fishers of voters. I want you to spread the good tidings of the positive development that is taking place in Oyo State which has made the state investor-friendly.
“Tell our people the truth. Tell them that they should not succumb to the politics of lies, politics of character defamation, of innuendoes and brigandage which the opposition is playing in Oyo State. Tell those in the opposition that a new dawn has been heralded in Oyo State and that our people have moved away from their own brand of politics.
Go round the state and let the people know what our administration is doing compared with what our predecessors did when they were in office,’’ he said.
Why enumerating his administration’s various achievements, Governor Ajimobi said that his government had succeeded in bringing peace and tranquility to the state aside other people-oriented programmes it had executed.
“The focus of this administration is the people. That is why we are paying great attention to clean environment, quality healthcare services, provision of infrastructure, water supply as well as empowerment,’’. Governor Ajimobi said.
