Oyo government, organized private sector, sign pact on taxes
The Oyo state Government and the Organized Private Sector in the state have signed a bilateral agreement on the control of gas emission, double taxation and water provision.
The exercise took place at the mini conference hall of the Agodi Gardens, Parliament Road Agodi Ibadan, on Thursday
While addressing the representatives of the organized private sector in the state, Governor Abiola Ajimobi said the state government will not engage in any indiscriminate levy of taxes on private sector without a concrete agreement with their representatives.
He emphasized the fact that Oyo state remains one of the lowest states in terms of Internally Generated Revenue stressing that most people in the state often avoided Government taxes.
He said the present administration in the state will create avenue for business development and give a sense of belonging to every citizen, stressing that the government would raise the bar of governance and make it intellectually and issue based.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to developing agriculture by investing over 1billion Naira in agriculture sector to ensure that Oyo state is self sufficient in food production .
Governor Ajimobi however appealed to the business community in the state to cooperate with the state government when it is time to review taxes for the development of Oyo state.
In their separate remarks, Professor Dupe Olatubosun, Dr Lekan Are and a foreign investor, Mr. Chris Bates, all lauded the efforts of senator Abiola Ajimobi at repositioning the state by creating a conducive environment for business development.
They commended the state Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi for creating an avenue for interaction between the state government and Investors in Oyo state.
