Oyo, foreign investors partner on transforming Ado-Awaye suspended lake
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said that his administration has concluded arrangement with some foreign investors to partner with the state in transforming the Ado Awaye suspended lake an international tourist centre.
He stated this while addressing the people of Ado Awaye in Iseyin Local Government Area of the state on Thursday during his campaign tour to the Oke-Ogun zone of the state.
The campaign tour witnessed the defection of hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord Party and Labour Party in Iganna and Iwere-Ile into APC. They were all received into the party by Governor Ajimobi.
The governor, who said that the suspended lake could be a source of huge revenue for the state, added that priority attention would be accorded the lake to ensure it attained the status of global tourist centre.
He said that the partnership with foreign investors would see the lake becoming a centre of attraction like the old Agodi Gardens in Ibadan which had just been rehabilitated and transformed into a resort and conference centre of international standard.
He charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the forthcoming elections.
While addressing the people of Iwere-Ile in Iwajowa Local Government Area of the state, Governor Ajimobi assured them that the main road linking the four communities of Ilaji-Ile, Idiko-Ile, Ijio and Itsa currently under construction would be completed very soon.
The governor also visited Iganna, Ijio, Ilero and Okeho where he assured the people that the power distribution to Iwere-Ile would be extended to other neighbouring communities.
