Oyo APC slams PDP aspirant over police raid

Sharing is caring!

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has said that a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the state, Mr. Seyi Makinde is too inconsequential in the scheme of things to bother APCthe party-led government.

The party stated this in a statement issued by its State Interim Publicity Secretary, Mr. Dauda Kolawole, against the backdrop of an allegation of victimization leveled against the government by the aspirant over a recent raid of his campaign office by the police.

According to APC, aside the pedigree of law and order which the Abiola Ajimobi-led government had ensured in the state in close to three years of its being in office, Makinde was too inconsequential to bother any serious-minded government.

“Former governors of the state in the persons of Adebayo Alao-Akala and Rashidi Ladoja walk freely on the streets of the state without being molested. The latter even mounts the campaign rostrum regularly, throwing unmerited brickbats at the governor and his government.

“He (Ladoja) has not for once reported that he was molested. So why would the APC government bother about an aspirant who is of no consequence to it? The so-called governorship aspirant is even not an issue among contenders in the PDP, not to talk of the state in general,” said the APC.

While warning Mr. Makinde to desist from a campaign of calumny and look within his party for the source of his problem, the APC said that its was a government of gentlemen which had come to re-draw the map of decent politics in Oyo State as opposed to the politics of brigandage and bloodletting of the past.

“Logic and common sense should tell anyone who is aware of the geography of politics in Oyo State that the likes of Makinde cannot be an issue of bother to our second term in office, nor to our administration. We are not bothered about him at all,” said the party.

The APC further said that it was a thing of surprise that the PDP aspirant would accuse an APC government of using a national apparatus which belongs to the PDP-led federal government against the party.

“It is in the character of the PDP to spill ill-logics like this. It does not obey the rules of logic at all. The Ajimobi government has won the hearts of peace-loving people of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole for stopping the menace of political thuggery and violence.

“Though anyone who passes Mr. Makinde’s office by cannot fail to see menacing-looking young men who smoke Indian hemp at will, we believe that it is the responsibility of the police to flush out anyone using politics as a smokescreen to perpetrate violence,” the party said.
