Oyo 2015: Ajimobi Under Pressure to Withdraw For Ladoja
Prominent leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC, are on the neck of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Governor of Oyo State to withdraw from the 2015 gubernatorial race, NigerianEcho has been informed. The National leaders of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , Chief Bisi Akande and some Governors in the South west have concluded plans to draft Senator Rashidi Ladoja, a one time Governor of the State into the race. In the arrangement, Ajimobi would be contesting for the Senatorial seat of Ibadan.
Checks by NigerianEcho however showed that Ajimobi is not buying into the plan. The fear of losing the State to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the believe in Oyo State that no one has been elected Governor twice are responsible for this audacious move.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was also drafted into the team to appeal to Ajimobi has, on two occasions, hosted top members of APC in his Abeokuta Hilltop home on this matter. A source close to Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola who is the coordinator of this contact committee told NigerianEcho that Ladoja has agreed in principle to fly APC flag in the 2015 gubernatorial race.
Ajimobi has however fought back employing the services of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, whose son is a Commissioner in his cabinet, to mobilise the traditional institution to resist the move.
The race to the Government House in 2015 appears to be a straight fight between the PDP and APC. The PDP which has put it’s house in order is the biggest threat to Ajimobi’s ambition.
