Oshiomhole warns against Involvement of the Military in Politics
The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has reacted to the postponement of the 2015 general elections, cautioning against the involvement of the military in politics.
The governor spoke during the commencement of the reconstruction and dualisation of the 3.6km 2nd East Circular Road in Benin, said his warning was important as the involvement of the military in the Nigerian political system could be dangerous for the nation’s democracy.
He said, “Those who said they were helpless over Boko Haram have said in six weeks, they would do what they could not do in six years; which means somebody knew what should be done and failed to do it, so that they can postpone elections.
“We are warning them not to drag the military into politics because that could be very dangerous.”
“All around the world, the PDP Federal Government is being denounced; I am happy that the world is with Nigeria. From America, to the UK and Europe, the PDP Federal Government is being denounced for postponing the election.”
The governor also spoke about the plan to redesign and reconstruct the road. He said the old seven-meter wide road will be replaced with 14.5 meters wide dual carriage road, complete with street lights and a median with plants and trees.
“This is the kind of road you will find anywhere in the world. I believe that the people of this community deserve everything that government can do because we have always won elections in this part of the city”
