Oshiomhole signs Edo State’s 2015 Appropriation Bill into Law
Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole signed the state’s 2015 Appropriation Bill into law in Benin on Tuesday.
Oshiomhole while commending members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the House of Assembly for speedy passage of the bill, revealed the Federal Allocation and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and other sources of funding were considered before the budget was made.
He explained that although the budget presented before the house on September 23 was N156.7 billion, the lawmakers reviewed upward its size by three billion naira to bring the figure to N159.3 billion.
He assured the people that his administration would continue to spend judiciously and deliver its promises.
He also said that the absence of some Peoples’ Democratic Party members at the sitting would not invalidate the proceedings of the house as the state assembly was now more focused and effective and the administration was committed to taking the state to the next level.
According to reports, the state’s house of assembly Majority Leader, Philip Shaibu, said that the upward review came about as some errors were noticed in some parts of the capital and recurrent expenditure, explaining that the 2015 budget had provided for more employment without budgetary provision for the salaries as well as in the area of agriculture.
