One of 2 Teens Shot in Brooklyn Dies
A shooting on a busy Brooklyn street left one teenager dead and another hospitalized Monday night.
Police say it happened around 6 p.m. near Dekalb Avenue and Flatbush Avenue in Fort Greene.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in the head and an 18-year-old was shot in the ankle.
The 17-year-old boy was taken to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 18-year-old is expected to survive.
The shooting took place across the street from the LIU Brooklyn campus.
NY1 spoke with one student who heard the gunshots while in class.
“All I hear is five or six gunshots.” the student said. “And out of nowhere, I hear people screaming and running. People in my class looked down and there was a huge panic.
Police say the shooting may have been a result of an argument between a group of men.
Investigators say the group was last seen running east on Flatbush Avenue.
Sources tell NY1 a gun was recovered at the location of the shooting, but it is unclear if it’s the weapon used in the shooting.
There have been no arrests.(NY1 News)
