Olusegun Obasanjo Berates Same Religion Idea for Presidential Aspirant and Running Mate
Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that the proposition of a Running mate with the same religion as the Presidential aspirant by General Mohammed Buhari, will not work as it is foreign to Nigeria’s political development and trend.
Obasanjo said this in a statement on Sunday, disclosing that as religion is very important issue in the country, it would be insensitive for any leader or any political party not to consider it serious.
“The idea of proselytization in any form is a grave danger that must not be contemplated by any serious minded politician at this delicate situation in Nigeria, as this time is different from any other time.
“Therefore, disregarding the fact that there are fears that need to be allayed at this point will amount not only to insensitivity of the highest order but will also amount to very bad politics indeed.”
The former president also said balance is needed for peace, security and stability in the country.
